About Unido

I've been around shared housing my whole life, from family living with us growing up, an apartment full of roommates in college, and now as a working professional. I've always had a room to share, or sometimes a room to fill.

In the farmworker community especially, renting a room is how a lot of things start. It's where you land when you move to a new town for work. When I was little, my family worked across the state and stayed with relatives or friends wherever they went. A lot of us are in that same place now. We just don't always have someone there.

That's who I built this for. Whether you're moving for work, leaving home for the first time, or you just need something you can afford, there's a room here, and a real person on the other side of it.

And if you're the one with the extra room, this is for you too. You shouldn't have to become an expert in leases, deposits, and screenings just to rent out a bedroom in your house. Unido does that part with you.

Most rooms still get rented on a handshake and an understanding. That works, and usually keeps working, right up until there's a problem. And problems are much harder to solve without a lease, or without a record of what was paid, and can end up costing more in the long run.
